Forest Hike with dogs

Guided forest hike through native woodland

You can join one of our guided hikes exploring some of the forest trails with our dogs.
We'll walk through some amazing landscapes, see some majestic trees, and listen to the sounds of the forest. As well as being passionate about trees, their well-being, and their future, we can discuss how better to use trees for the benefit of people and for the future of the locality and for the planet.
Our hike will take us along a variety of trails, some of them narrow horse-trails, some of them fire-break tractor-roads, as well as "off-piste" walking onto the forest floor to explore the wild flowers, mosses and other wild herbs.

I'm a Garden Designer and I live in a forest, so this is my opportunity to share a passion and knowledge of trees and my local forest ecology. We'll explore some of the trails in the Yalova Forest, discovering interesting facts about forest trees and their interactions, how the forest maintains itself and learn about beneficial plants and fruits which can be collected from native woodland. The terrain is varied, with streams and waterfalls, and panoramic views of the lake or across the sea of Marmara to Istanbul and beyond. Our destination is a local family-run restaurant located deep in the forest beside a river, serving locally produced food. The forest itself is native broadleaf woodland. It's a magical place, and I will open your eyes to many of its charms as we pass along it. Together we are graduates of Geography, Biology, Agriculture and Landscape, and I have worked in Landscape design and management for almost 40 years - I am passionate about trees!  The trees we'll get to know while walking through them, include majestic trees such as Hornbeam, Linden, Oak, Chestnut, Beech, as well as other native shrubs such as Hazelnut, Strawberry tree (Arbutus) Cistus, Thyme
Hikes usually last around 4 hours: about 3 hours of walking with a stop for refreshments. The route can be adjusted to suit ability - there are easy, mixed, and more adventurous routes for more experienced walkers.
Equipment: you will need sturdy footwear (Hiking boots). We can provide sticks (natural Hazel) and you can fill up your drinking water from our Natural Spring water.
Book by emailing us to enquire about availability and costs. There are discounts for groups.
If you don't have your own transport, we can pick-up from the Yalova fast ferryboat terminal. There will be tea/coffee available on arrival. You can fill up your water bottles from our natural spring water
